Privacy Policy & Terms
Privacy Policy — QRSecure
1) Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how QRSecure (the “App”) processes information when you use it. The App is designed to operate with anonymous usage data only.
2) What we do — and what we don’t
- The App scans QR codes and shows risk indicators based on third-party checks (notably Google Safe Browsing).
- We do not collect or store personal data you type, scan, or view in the App (including the full contents of QR codes).
- We process only anonymous usage events (e.g., a scan occurred; result: “no known risks” / “potential risk”; timestamps; app/OS version; non-identifying diagnostics) strictly for stability, debugging, and product improvement.
If a third-party SDK inherently treats certain technical data as “personal data” in some jurisdictions (e.g., IP or device signals), we configure SDKs to minimize/disable such collection where feasible and rely on appropriate legal bases or consent where required.
3) Data we process
Anonymous usage/diagnostic data such as:
- Event metadata (scan started/completed), high-level outcome (no known risks / potential risk type), approximate timestamps;
- App version, OS version, non-identifying diagnostics and crash logs.
We do not process: accounts, contact details, precise location, or the full text/payload you scan; nor marketing profiles.
4) Google Safe Browsing
We use Google Safe Browsing to check URLs for potential threats (malware, social engineering, unwanted software).
- Checks may be performed from your device to Google’s endpoints to obtain a classification.
- We do not store the scanned URL on our servers.
- Results are probabilistic; false positives/negatives may occur. Absence of warnings does not guarantee safety.
- Where a warning is based on Safe Browsing, we display “Notice provided by Google” and may link to Google’s advisory page.
5) Analytics & SDKs (privacy-lean configuration)
- Google Analytics — aggregated usage metrics (privacy-enhancing settings where available, e.g., IP anonymization).
- Mixpanel — event analytics for debugging and product quality; anonymous events only.
- Google Ads (AdMob) — if ads are shown, we request non-personalized ads where required and apply regional consent flows when applicable. AdMob may collect device/network signals per its policies.
Where platform settings or regional laws require it, you can control analytics/ads in the App’s Settings; disabling non-essential SDKs may reduce feature quality.
6) Legal bases (where applicable)
We rely on legitimate interests for core functionality, security, debugging and statistics using anonymous/aggregated data, and on consent where required for advertising or certain SDK features. These bases are interpreted under the laws that apply to you, subject to your mandatory rights.
7) Sharing & international transfers
We share data only with our processors necessary to operate the App (e.g., Google/Alphabet entities for Analytics, Safe Browsing and AdMob; Mixpanel, Inc.). Data may be processed internationally subject to recognized safeguards where required.
8) Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights over personal data. Because the App is designed without storing identified personal data, those rights may be limited in practice. Where platform privacy controls exist (e.g., OS-level settings or in-App toggles), you may use them at any time.
9) Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10) Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. By accessing or using the App after an update, you acknowledge and accept the updated Policy. We may display an in-App notice at our discretion.
Terms & Conditions — QRSecure
1) Acceptance
By accessing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2) License
A limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license is granted to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and applicable law.
3) Acceptable use
You must not misuse the App, interfere with its operation, reverse-engineer it (except where permitted by law), circumvent security, or use it to violate any law or third-party rights.
4) Results & Safe Browsing notices
- The App provides indicative risk signals for URLs using third-party checks, including Google Safe Browsing.
- No guarantee: Results are informational and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. The absence of warnings does not guarantee safety. You decide whether to proceed.
- Where a warning is based on Safe Browsing, the App will display “Notice provided by Google” and may link to Google’s advisory page.
5) Third-party services
The App may integrate or link to third-party services (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, AdMob, external websites). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, security, or policies.
6) Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App and all outputs are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or availability.
7) No claims; exclusive remedy; waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- You waive and release any and all claims, demands, actions, or proceedings arising out of or relating to the App, its outputs, or your use of it.
- Your exclusive remedy is to stop using and uninstall the App.
- You agree not to bring any class, collective, representative, or consolidated action related to the App.
These provisions apply without prejudice to any non-waivable consumer rights you hold under mandatory law.
8) Modifications & availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part) at any time. By accessing or using the App after changes become effective, you accept the updated Terms. We may display an in-App notice at our discretion.
9) Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, including where we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
10) Entire agreement; severability
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
